How to perform a Magnafloor Signal Flow Test

If you are experiencing issues with panels not lighting or only partially lighting, you’ll want to first perform a connectivity and signal flow test by following the steps below. If you are able to record the full process and provide that video, it can also greatly simplify the troubleshooting process to help us arrive at a resolution much faster.

First, on a clear and level floor, setup the system with an active (powered on) power edge. Make sure the signal flow is following the direction of the tile arrows and that all are pointing the same way, away from the power edge. Begin connecting panels 2 at a time, side by side. They should light as soon as they are connected.

Continue doing this until you arrive at one that does not light or will not connect steadily. Once you encounter a tile that will not properly light, mark it using tape or other, place it aside and continue testing with untested panels until all have been tested.

When testing, do not connect more than 16 panels deep (32 total) to a power edge. When you get to 16 panels deep (32 total) you may remove all perfectly functioning panels, place aside and start fresh at position #1 with any leftover panels that have not yet been tested.

After all panels have been tested, take the marked units and inspect all magnets to ensure they are clean and corrosion free. If corrosion is present, please take pictures and contact us for the best way to resolve (they can be cleaned or replaced). If the magnets are physically damaged take note as they can also be replaced. Once the magnets are confirmed to be clean and corrosion/damage free, connect the tile to the power edge and test again. The tiles should light. If they don’t check the contact points again, mark the tile a second time and try again.

Continue this process until all panels have been thoroughly tested. If you experience issues with the first panel in the connection flow, you’ll also want to inspect the connection points on the power edge directly.

Once you’ve completed a full and complete panel by panel test, let us know the results and if possible, provide the test video and we will be able to assist with a resolution.
